I noticed that I had ~15,000 duplicate library entries in MC.  Upon checking, I found that in addition to what was supposed to be there, all of my iPod stuff was there as well.  This included the iPod audio and video content.  I also had real duplicate entries (same file name) for 86 music tracks.

All of this is easy enough to clean up, but it looks to me like auto-import imported my iPod.  I double checked the options, and the iPod is not one of the watched folders.

I noticed this with 12.0.164, but it may not be related to this release.

How did you see the files?

iPod files are temporarily added to the database in a special location during program run.  If you do a search like ~d=a, you'll turn them up.

They showed up in all my views with a little x indicating the file is missing.  I have the file path & name in my views, and they showed on drive f: which is my iPod.  The file names also were the funny iPod file names.  So I just sorted my library by file path & name and deleted everything on drive f:  That fixed the problem.

EDIT:  I don't know if this means anything.  I had the iPod plugged in, MC was not open, and I installed a new version of MC.  I noticed the iPod files in the MC library after that.  They showed up with the iPod plugged in, after I ejected the iPod, and after I closed and restarted MC.

Go to the Auto import options, add folder and select whatever drive letter your iPod is assigned to and check the exclude folder box. It will never be imported. The only problem is you need to permanately assign it the same letter. I assigned my iPod the letter K to stop conflict with network drives and usb keys. This can be done by Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management. Right click the ipod drive and assign it a letter.
It doesn't fix the problem it will just avoid it.

Thanks for the tip, but I'm really not worried about blocking the problem.  It is simple to clean up.  If there is a problem, I would rather have it repeat so I can try to pick up a pattern and let the JRiver team know.

I did test one thing out.  As I reported, when I noticed this it was after upgrading MC with my iPod plugged in.  I did another upgrade to MC with the iPod plugged in and could not duplicate the problem.  So it's probably not related to that workflow.
