12.0.179, UPnP Server and Roku Soundbridge
« on: February 27, 2007, 02:08:42 pm »

After installing version 12.0.179, my Roku Soundbridge could no longer connect to Media Center's UPNP server. A downgrade to version 12.0.164 fixed the problem. But I'd really like to use the new build.

Can anybody else verify this behaviour?

My Server options are:
Convert audio if necessary
mp3 encoder
Specify TCP port to use: 2268
Receiver: Roku Soundbridge
Filter International characters
skip child count

Are these settings correct? What should I do?

I have actually tried restarting the soundbridge repeatedly, as suggested in the linked thread. That makes no difference for me. The previous build works fine.

Any suggestions?

Are you unplugging the power cord? You have to actually remove power to the Roku.

If you are and it still doesn't work, let me know...

FWIW I didn't have to power cycle either of mine. A reboot from the menus did the trick.

I've tried both restarting and unplugging the cord, both have been ineffective.

Here's the upnp logfile for MC v12.0.164 (which works):

02/28/07 14:27:40 - JRiver UPnP Server Version 1.0.44 starting...
02/28/07 14:27:41 - UPnP Media Server Device started on port 4228
02/28/07 14:27:41 - Running
02/28/07 14:27:45 - GET request of /DeviceDescription.xml
02/28/07 14:27:45 - Received request for device description

Here's the upnp logfile for MC v12.0.179 (which doesn't work):

02/28/07 15:11:58 - JRiver UPnP Server Version 1.0.44 starting...
02/28/07 15:11:59 - UPnP Media Server Device started on port 4228
02/28/07 15:11:59 - Running
02/28/07 15:12:09 - Received request for device description
02/28/07 15:12:19 - Received request for device description
02/28/07 15:12:38 - Received request for device description

The main difference is that this line "GET request of /DeviceDescription.xml" never shows up in MC v12.0.179.

Is that information useful?

I changed the logging - that's why the GET line isn't there.

Switch your settings to not use a fixed port.
Shut down MC.
Unplugthe Roku.
Start MC (and the UPnP Server).
Plug the Roku in.

Does this work?

Sadly, no.

Also, I have Filter International characters unchecked. But it won't work either way.

I even tried resetting the soundbridge to factory default, last night. But that didn't help either.

Have you checked for upgrades on the Roku?

Yes, but I am up to date. I'm running the latest release firmware (2.5.174).

Are you using a SoundBridge M500?

Make a sniff:

and send it to me (gateley @ jriver.com)

Thanks,

Just out of curiosity... Is anyone else experiencing this problem with a Soundbridge connecting wirelessly?
