What I meant though is whatever you're listening to will stop playing.

I've mentioned before I don't think Library changing is integrated enough.
It's like a bolt on for advanced users rather than a nice feature, which is a shame.

Switching libraries, whether to a remote library or a different local one, should stop playback.
What you are playing is in one library, and when you switch to a second, you are no longer connected to the first.

However, I will agree somewhat with your critique of Library Server - there's lots that it could do better.
It's a question of time spent vs. features gained, and how much those features are needed.

While from a technical stand point that may be easier, I don't think that is nesacerilly true.
If you go into a town library, do they ban you from reading any papers if you take
one of their books out?  Or from reading any of your own books?
You may take a book out on Psychology, but be reading a fiction book at night of your own.

Equally, just because you've changed libraries in Media Center, the media Files are still there.  Even if they're on a remote server, they're still there.  It's not unreasonable for a user to want to play an album/track from one library, and then an album/track from another library.

However, I will agree somewhat with your critique of Library Server - there's lots that it could do better.

Understood totally.  My critiques are never meant in a harsh way.  They sometimes don't come across as constructive as they should I'm sure.  Don't mean to frustrate any
of the developers.  I think you guys do a fantastic job! =)

I'm not sure your analogy is applicable. The public library is a storehouse to be used by lots of people. Your Media Center library is for you alone.

If you want to share between two libraries, couldn't you merge them somehow?

In our house we have multiple libraries on multiple machines, the libraries are open
for anyone in the house to browse.  That's not an uncommon scenario, especially
among the younger generation.

We have no central file server for media (also not an uncommon scenario for most houses).
We also have different tastes for music.  Different libraries are a natural way to split them.
However our music tastes may over lap for certain areas, hence it's nice to browse
other peoples music. 

Some people I'm sure even have large enough collections that splitting it up into multiple libraries
make it easier to categorise them (despite Media Centers excellent abilities)

We could achieve this by tagging the owner of the music, but that could get
messy, plus put a larger strain on the slower machines as they would need
to handle having the entire libraries loaded each time,
which would amount to 300,000 files or more, not something older machines
cope so well with.
