appending tag/field info to another tag/field
« on: March 17, 2007, 08:54:18 am »

hi

i am aware that i can move/copy/exchange info from one field/tag to another in MC, but is it possible to append info from one tag/field to another, i.e. add new text to a tag/field from another tag/field whilst leaving the info already in the tag being copied to intact?

thanks

I'm interested in this also.... I'd love to be able to combine the [Year] tag with the [Event] tag into the the [Album] tag for my pictures. This way they should, in theory, be nicely sorted on my iPod....

tools > options > library and folders > click on user library fields > add field...

give it a name...
on the right, select calculated data...
in the template field, enter the fields you'd like combined, [date (year)] - [event] for example...
click OK

Use your new field with the 'move\copy fields' tool like you would any other in the library.

Brilliant!

I'm off to re-tag 18,000 pictures and synching them to my iPod!

Thanks Marko!
