I've got a playlist for all of my images. When I synch my iPod it always re-copies ALL of the images. Why? The images have not changed...

Really, are you converting images?  I don't seem to have this issue.  I have some images synced and they aren't re-synced...I just started a sync right now and they always appear at the top, but they aren't there.  I only sync a few almost as a proof of concept.  I should convert to 320x240 and sync a ton.  They take so little space that way!

I also use a playlist for syncing and do not have this problem.

I suggest you connect your iPod and double check your sync options to verify that nothing extra is checked in the sync list.

I've rechecked everything. I'm not doing any conversions.

I can synch the iPod and send over 8,000 pictures, re-synch again and MC wants to delete from the iPod 2,345 pics and re-upload 2,345.

All files are jpg, and I can see a patern as to why some files get re-synched...

No new files. The playlist is very simple, it collects all the pics that are 640x480 in my library. (When I add a picture to my library, I actually add a second one at a lower resolution for use on the iPod and on TVs. I have a custom tag that tells me if it's the original or the lower resolution version. The playlist only presents me me the lower resolution versions.)

Just did some more tests.

I initialized the iPod.

Created a smaller playlist of images: 2005 shots, all Jpg, all 640x480.

Did the synch along with about 1000 tunes or so. No conversions of images.

After the synch, I clicked "Recheck Synch" and it showed that there were again 1,861 pictures that were to be deleted on the device that were to be deleted at the next synch and that there were 1,861 pictures to be uploaded again.

So I synched again.

Then clicked "Recheck Synch" again. Once again: 1,861 pictures that were to be deleted on the device that were to be deleted at the next synch and that there were 1,861 pictures to be uploaded again...

The 1,861 pictures to be deleted on the iPod are the same pictures that MC wants to upload again.

Any more suggestions?

We can't reproduce this.

Can you turn logging on, test it on a much smaller scale of around 100 files and send me (rick at jriver.com) the log file? (Make sure you sync and then re-check sync.) Can you also tell us what iPod and firmware you're using?

Swell guy said to send the log to rick at jriver.com a couple posts up.

I saw the same resynching problem with MP3s and an iPod Nano with an older MC12 build.  I went back to MC11.  I'm going to try MC12 again and see if the problem still exists.
