Gracefully cancel tag saving to file?

I forgot to uncheck 'Save tags in files (when possible)' before I started modifying tags over a fair chunk of files.

After the 1st change (of several to be made), there are 37,725 tags left to save - which is going to take a fair while by the look of things.

Is there a way to gracefully abort this?
