What's With The Memorex' Black CDs?
« on: April 28, 2007, 05:11:13 pm »

I had been under the impression that the coating for CDs had to be gold or silver. A friend just bought a pack of memorex black CD-Rs.

Should we expext the same quality/consistency with these black CDs. Is this just a gimmick? ?

From memory (and it's not that good), they're actually meant to be better... I think they were also what was required for burning PS1 games or something for a while too..... Either way, I've never heard of anyone having complaints about them, but I haven't really had much experience with them personally.

I remember buying a spindle of these years ago, they were very expensive back then and were meant to be a lot more durable than your regular cd.

Maybe the purpose of this is so you can copy PlayStation games and play them on the PSone console   ;D
