New Car Radio - Kenwood KDC-X891 or JVC KD-AVX33
« on: May 09, 2007, 07:14:21 am »

Hello All... I need a new Car Stereo.. I'm looking at either the Kenwood or the JVC.

JVC:             http://www.crutchfield.com/S-wh8dsAtdbZZ/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=168550&tab=detailed_info&i=105KDAVX33#Tab
Kenwood:     http://www.crutchfield.com/S-wh8dsAtdbZZ/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&tab=detailed_info&i=113KDCX891#Tab

There are pro's and cons to both... JVC has a DVD and a nice display... But no rotary volume...
The Kenwood, Has USB2 for highspeed Ipod searching... and a rotary volume, but no DVD.... I'm not sure how much I would use the DVD..

I'm just looking for quality... Any other suggestions?

Prices: JVC 599.00
Kenwood 399.00

Price isn't that much of a factor.

the JVC KD-AVX33 looks nice, that's something like what i wanted when I got my latest like 2 years ago.

I like the DVD and MP3 part of it

I wish it would show cover art (not sure if it does) but i don't think it does.

I have A JVC, and it just shows background images that are not very useful.

The only one that displays the Cover Art is Alpine... But it's only Ipod, no CD....
I ordered the Kenwood KDC-X891, Kenwood is backordered on it... I should have it next week.

The Kenwood has HighSpeed USB were the JVC is not... Navigating the pod through the deck is MUCH faster.

It's amazing how simple an addition cover art is but how much nicer it makes music.  Especially when you may recall I scanned all my cover art in by hand, so I sure want it to show up.  I personally can't see much use with a DVD player.  First, it's in somewhat of a bad location for anyone in the car.  You'd be better off getting a portable DVD player or laptop.  Or one built into the back of a seat.

Plus, that's a huge target for thieves.  A nice display!

For people that don't have a ipod, a dvd you can have 4 gigs of mp3's.... The movie part of the deck, will not work while the car is running.

The not having cover art thing.... Ummm I think the deck displays would be to small to display it well.... If you were getting a double din deck, then maybe but on a single din you wouls have to have good eyes

I can

Since I Can Get Maybe 125 mp3's on A CD and i can cram more on a DVD player cd i can have more listening on a CD than a normal CD.

I personally would love it, the added cover art option would help me want to pull additional money out of my pocket.

Well I got the Kenwwod deck installed Friday night.... and wow what an amazing deck....
Controls the Ipod at high speed... USB2!!

The only problem, the USB2 connection only works with the 5g Video and above and the Nano...
My Ipod, was the first Photo Ipod.... Oh well.. Have an Ipod for the excercise room, and a new 80Gig for the car...

If anybody is looking for a great deck.... The Kenwoos KDC-X891 is worth every penny!!
