Just to let you see what is going on with the MJ Plug-In "Chart Finder". There are 6 Pictures on my web site for all the screens and options.

I have been getting allot of E-Mails about the program and the intrest seems high.

If you have a database or know of a website that provides data (lists) of top 40, top 100 charts please send me the links. when i can i will work up a database to include in the program.

thanks to Matt and the gang the program now saves all fields so there will be no problems with the MJ extended data fields (real play gain, custome1-3, etc...)

as a matter of fact you can choose the info to be saved in Comment, Custom1, Custom2 Or Custom3.

Some Options:

If you wish the rating to be set it can set the rating for you depending where it was on the list. for example if the song peaked at 1 to 10 on the list, the program can set the rating to "5", 11 To 20 Rating "4" etc...

Do you hate it when you have "The" in the Artist name? Like "The Beatles" Or "Beatles, The" it can change it to "Beatles" for you.

Would you like for it to change the genre to "Top 40"? There is an option for it.

Correct the artist or song name and match it up with the database.

You can have it save the Chart info to the MJ Database and ID3v1.1 And The ID3v2 tags in the file or just to the MJ database.

It tells you what went on with every file it looks at

I hate to toss a fly in the ointment at this stage but...

Is it possible to put the Chart Peaking YEAR and the Chart Peaking POSITION in different fields; like YEAR in Custom 2 and POSITION in Custom 3? That way I could sort and get all the number 1's together OR all the 1973's together.

Also, will this work with various formats, like .ogg and .ape as well as .mp3?

That was my initial thought when I used his standalone version.

However, he does put the peak number as 2 digits (01 instead of just 1) so it sorts fine for the peak number.

It also has the option of filling out the Year field for you, so you can sort by Year as well.

I suppose some might have a different year than the actual Peak year... in that case your solution is probably needed.

yes that is one of the advantages of the MJ Plug-In, I get to use MJ's taging system.

Well I Posted The Plug-In It Is On My Web Site.

You Must Install The Program, Go To The Install Dir (Normaly "Program Files\Chart Finder") And Run Registry.Reg So MJ Can See It As A Plug-In

You can get a java 'client' at Cisco. Comes with another nasty that is easily disabled.

For browser problems like the one above, check this setting.

IE/Tools/Internet Options/Temporary Internet Files/Settings

and set it to check on "every visit to the page".

It's the way the option should default. I don't understand Microsoft sometimes.

It's the reason that people often reply even when someone else has replied with the same information. They can't see it.

I Put The Registry.Reg File Up For Download On My Web Site.

ok. I did get it installed. MJ sees it just fine. I do get a runtime error 91: Object variable or With block variable not set. I know this isn't finished but thought you would like to know.

edit: forgot to mention the program setup page is all black boxes too with or without skins.

Looks like it will be a really cool plugin once all the bugs are worked out.

I don't see that I'm getting any object error, but when I try a lookup I get a red "Database Did Not Load, Error..."

I change the DB setting from blank to "U.S.A. Top 40" before trying it. I've also restarted MJ (the DB setting is blank on after a restart).

Ideas?

ChartFinder was installed to default location on C:, as was MJ.

I had the same problem as JimHus. Moved the database to c:\ and it loaded. As for the object error, I wasn't really doing anything at the time. It just popped up and diagnal lines went across the plugin area. Clicked on the Chart Finder under the plugin tree node and it went away. Happened 2 times now.

Yep! That fixed it. Ran nicely too, both Manual and Batch.

While I was playing with it before, I tried the D'load DB (although I know it's listed as not working) It did d'load the file "USATop40.csv" (not "Top40.csv") into my TEMP directory.

Looks very close.

I Just Sent A New OCX File To The Web Site In A ZIP File.

Chart Finder.OCX
Registry.Reg
Top40.csv

So Maybe Just Unzip It To A Folder, And Click On The Registry.Reg File Untill I Can Figure Out What A MJP file is.

Did a batch lookup, everything went fine. Found a few matches..fine.

Problem:

When viewing the tag in the main tab (# of Files In List), custom3 (the tag I have it set to) displays the tag fine. If I switch to exact matches, those files are there (the matched ones) but it shows the same "peaked in year" for all tracks which is the same as the track that was previously viewed in the main tab.

Another bug would be if you remove some files from playing now, the files that found matches are in the main tab but not in the matched tab as it was previously.

Also when switching views in MJ (from Chartfinder to Playing Now), the database gets unloaded and have to keep reloading.

I d'loaded the Zip, extracted, copied to Existing ChartFinder, ran the included Reg.

When I try and start the Plugin I get

"Interface Plug-In 'Chart Finder' must implement IUnknown interface"

The Main Tab Pulls Up Everything That Is In The Playing Now List

Thats Because when you jump out of the Plug-ins the program basicly stops running. at least it only needs to do it once when your in there.

I Took The Program Off Line Untill I Figure Out How To Create A Self installing ZIP File That Works With MJ.
