Tv Recording over theater view with timer?
« on: July 28, 2007, 02:24:28 pm »

Is this possible? Can I set up a record time in Theater mode? In standard view I can use the scheduler, but on my htcp it's nearly impossible to use the scheduler. It would be great if there is a Timer option like it is in Media portal.
It's more remote friendly and would make Media center perfect in theater mode ( I solved the bug I wrote several days ago).

It would be great, a htpc must be as good as a dvd recorder. and a dvd recorder  as a timer. So it would be really great JRiver, to build in a Timer.

I agree (and as covered before) - Theater View has come a long way in the last 6 months (DVB-T Support, Manual Recording, MCE Support) but still lacks:
- Assignable TV Channel Logo's
- Scheduled Recording
- EPG Support & Recording
- Timeshift and Recoding together (currently two seperate methods are used)
- IR Blaster / Video Pass through / control of external boxs

Thanks

Hi Nathan, I'm interested in better understanding this feature request. What hardware is involved and what is the expectation in terms of MC's involvement?

This is where TV gets fully integrated.  The MS MCE IR receiver comes with two IR Blasters that plug into the back and which you then attach to the frount of two external devices (over there IR Receivers).  The idea is then your HTPC front end (eg Media Portal / MS Media Center) now controls your external device such as a Cable TV box.  The end result is if you select Ch100 on your remote, it would switch the input to Video In, and via the IR blaster then change the Cable Box to Ch100.  By mapping the channels you can then have one IF controling your tuner card the Cable box together.  The final aim is then to control both by the EPG.
