When ever I change the properties of a file, I get this message:

"Media Jukebox failed to update the tag information for the following file:

-the file im updating-

This happens when files are in use, read only, or when tagging has been disabled in MJ's options."

*The file is not in use
*It's not read only
*And ive done the following:
    - Go to Settings > Options > General and make sure that "Update
tags when file info changes" is checked.
    - Go to Settings > Plug-in Manager > Input > mp3 and complete
the information in the dialog box.

Im a new user, does anyone know what the problem is?

This usually happens with wave files. What type of file are you trying to update?

because you can't put tags in Wav Files.

MJ Should Not Even Try To Put It In There.

>>why does it take so long to save the information?
if your using ID3v2 Tags They Are At The Front Of The MP3, And It Needs To Re-Write The Whole File To Put The Tag In There.

ID3v1.1 Tags Are At The End Of The Mp3 And It Only Requires The Last 128 Bytes To Be Saved To The File.

>>> because you can't put tags in Wav Files. <<<

True, but it will rename them anyways.

LaToya,

Turn them into mp3s first and you will not have this problem. The rips you are doing are .wav files. This can be changed in the 'Encoding' thru Options. Or, right from the rip pop-up window. Choose options there and change to mp3 of choice.

One other way is rip to .wav and 'Convert Format' from the tools button. Easiest way to select files this way is to click on 'Media Library' > Advanced > Add Rule > Media Type. Select the formats to convert from the choices listed. Next click on tools and do the convert format thing. Simple, more or less.

ID3v1.1 Limit Your Fields To 30 Chrs, 28 Chrs For Comment.

>> - Go to Settings > Plug-in Manager > Input > mp3 and complete
>> the information in the dialog box.
Same As Above, But Under ID3v2 Put In Remove If Exist, And Make Sure Id3v1.1 Is Set To Save.

I Do Not Use ID3v2 Tags , They Are The Work Of The Devil.

if you have never went to the download plugin page and downloaded the "MP3 Encoder", Yes You Need To Download It.

But you said You Already Went To Go to Settings > Plug-in Manager > Input >MP3 Encoder

Did You Click On "Configure" Once You Get There?

This is what I read on the help menu:

<< NOTE: You can convert any file for which you have an input plug-in installed. The output format can be any form for which you have an encoder plug-in installed. >>

So I have the input mp3 plug-in but not the encoder plug-in.
