Changing library location
« on: October 07, 2007, 03:30:16 pm »

I'm currently evaluating MC12 and it looks very promising, especially the tag management. This is exactly what I need. Far more better than the default product we all know and which constantly messes up my song collection.

However, I need a feature that is critical for me. I'd like to change the library location. There are files in "C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Application Data\J River\Media Center 12\Library", including a cache and so on. I want this cache to be on an external drive, the same drive were all my song files are.

I noticed a setting in the registry ("HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 12\Properties\Libraries\Default"). Is it possible to move the library folder and change the registry setting accordingly? Is there a regular option to achieve the same?

Thanks for any help.

before you go playing with the registry, try this
go to file>library>library manager
click add, pick your location and choose clone from: your original library.
and load that one.

This works for the majority of library data but not for thumbnails, library backups, screengrabs, and program settings.
