Media Center 10.0.173 crashes when changing options

I had to reinstall MC10 on my Vista PC.  The first time it worked fine.  I unstalled it, then reinstalled it.  Now whenever I change any settings in Tools-->Options, it freezes.  I already tried reinstalling it a couple more times.  The last time, after the automatic uninstall, I put all the Media Center folders in the Recycle bin.  I still get the same problem.  What should I do?

Okay.  I restarted my PC, and now it doesn't crash when I change the options.

But now, it won't play any music.  I keep getting the message "There was an error starting playback...etc."

One last detail...MC10 started crashing after I uninstalled the MC12 trial and re-registered MC10.

Try reinstalling MC10.

I did that many times, different combinations.  Uninstalling using control panel or MC10 uninstall.  Restarting after uninstall or not restarting before installing again.  Using recommended install, using custom install with a different folder.---They all give the same result.  Is it Vista compatibility?

This sucks.  Options are still crashing after multiple installs.  Is it Vista compatibility?
