Organising Photos...
« on: November 23, 2007, 09:34:01 am »

I know I've said this before, but I'm going to say it again.
When organising photos from the past, Media Center is the business!

It's very sad but I'm still sorting out my Africa photos 1 year and 2 months after returning.
I've just about got the second lot ready to go for printing.

When I got back from Africa I used Media Center to tag them all.

Now I'm arranging them into playlists so that everythings ordered..

I've got a further 170 photos that are going to the printers (so far).

Without MC i've no idea how i'd have had any order to it what so ever!

What "system" do you have for tagging the photos? Anything one should think about before starting?

This is very non technical... but...
Put lots of love into it. I had no real system.
I think every photo tells a different story and means something to different people.
Therefore each photo needs to be tagged differently.

MC is just a tool that helps you do that, in the same way
Photoshop is a tool for correcting small issues with the image itself.
 :)

I tagged all the people in the photos, and where they were taken,
then gave them captions if relevant.
Make a backup when you're finished!

I used the tag window a fair amount, and also the panes, tagging mode.
I think playing helps the most!
