Orginizing single files
« on: November 24, 2007, 07:28:51 pm »

I have all of my disks ripped as Artist/Album/Track, worked GREAT!
Now I have a BUNCH of single tracks that are in folders by Genre/Filename which MC and WMP think each track is a album.  Looks really messy in Theater view.  If I change the Album Artist to various would I get icons like Country/Various/filenames showing all the files with Various as one album or would I still show 200 albums with one song in each?
Any ideas on how to do this?
Thanks!

Well, assuming they are tagged properly, this can easily be done via the "Library Tools-->Rename Files From Properties..." command.  (Renaming will actually move the file if need be.)

For the directory, just enter [Genre]\Various.

For the filename, enter whatever format you like (using any of the available tags).

Not sure I get it.  If I change the Album Artist to "various" and Click Country in Theater view, will I end up with a folder called "Various" with all those misc songs that are tagged Country?  Thanks again

I swear your original post read differently when I originally replied to it.  :P

Oh, well, I guess there was just a disconnect.  Sorry.  Ignore my reply/suggestion.
