Playlists within website : there must be an easier way !
« on: February 27, 2008, 01:29:37 am »

Bonjour tout le monde,

I'm really happy JRiver MediaJukebox 's now free !

So cool to send any playlist sorted in so many different ways in audio formats that best suits needs and quality.
Now on my website [100mb/s bandwith]  I can store such huge file as Ape or Flac ... and it's only one step away to click your weblink to dl MediaJukebox to play [Good business and glad to do it   ;)]

One thing still annoyes me : I can't get an option to change absolute/relative path when I make up playlists.

See screen copy. I'ld like to set any path I want regarding the website http:// destination I'm uploading the files to.

The way I operate now is getting the *mpl file modified with TexRep Freeware and uploading the final *.mpl to website [Filezilla/Linux]

Any comments or improvements I could do with ?

Merci
TCube

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you want.

Can you give an example or two?

(Thanks for the mention on your board.)

Yes for sure,

Exporting original *.mpl playlist goes like this :

Code: [Select]
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<MPL Version="2.0" Title="Shared Playlist on TCube [Original Export]">
<Item>
<Field Name="Filename">K:\Shared Playlist on TCube\Agent 5.1 - Next millenium.mp3</Field>
<Field Name="Artist">Agent 5.1</Field>
<Field Name="Album">Con Furore</Field>
<Field Name="Name">Next millenium</Field>
<Field Name="File Type">mp3</Field>
<Field Name="Genre">Trip Hop</Field>
<Field Name="Date">37257</Field>
<Field Name="Bitrate">223</Field>
<Field Name="Image File">INTERNAL</Field>
<Field Name="Media Type">Audio</Field>
<Field Name="Rating">2</Field>

<Field Name="Artist">Agent 5.1</Field>
<Field Name="Album">Con Furore</Field>
<Field Name="Name">Poulet</Field>

And so on .....

</Item>

Modified Playlist is itself loaded on the server [website] as the audio files were. Then it is one click away to "open/save" directly from the server to Media Jukebox :

That's the way it goes now for me. But having a box inside the "export playlist" menu where we could type any http: syntaxt and process automatically the playlist to the result mentionned above, that would make things easier [many servers/many directories]

Well my topic should either to be on a limb or maybe be moved to the Dev. Section for MJ/MC.
Here goes my idea of where MJ/MC would works wonders.

Let’s say I’m hosting files anywhere on external servers and wish to make a playlist out of it.

-   First : I’m loaded to pay for space and the complete database is uploaded and only accessible for Admin (me)

To share with registered users on my website ... I will on the same server :

-   Copy parts of this original database in another directories with differents users access rights.

That done ... I can set MJ to connect to these databases [http://] having as many different Audio/Disk Location as I’m hosting.

Ohhhh ! great ... I know can make out playlists locally with relative path with Audio/disk location and upload them back to the same external server !

-   How fun : make up playlists ... per month, per genre, per file type, ... and so on.

This is plainly silly ... local MJ  is now cluttered with files having as many file location as I have external locations ...  (just imagine !)

Please consider having a manual entry for location instead !!!
