Streaming from media server to Pocket PC
« on: August 02, 2002, 11:01:26 am »

I have a home PC running WinXP Pro and am trying to use the media server in MJ 8.0 to stream music to a Pocket PC over my home 802.11 network.  I'm using the Windows Media Player on Pocket PC.  I can see the server over the 802.11 network from the Pocket PC, but the server is giving back an error that it doesn't understand the protocol from the Pocket PC.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Thanks for your help,
Erick

Media Server only talks to Media Jukebox, and unfortunately there is no MJ for WinCE.

It is possible to use the pocket PC to control MJ but the playback will be on the remote PC, not on the PocketPC.  That's done with the web remote plug-in.

Do you know if there are plans to have MJ Server support clients other than MJ?  Could this be possible with a server plug-in or is this hardcoded?  On the other hand, are their any plans to port the MJ client to a handheld platform?
