parameters for Lame encoding
« on: July 30, 2002, 07:21:23 am »

I don't understand the settings for the external-parameters: %IN %OUT -b 128.  Do I have to specify the CD track no. for %IN and the file name and path for %OUT?  Please give me an example.

Thanks, Norm Rukaina

MJ will replace %IN and %OUT with the names of the input WAV file and the output MP3 file respectively.  When I use LAME as an external encoder, I use the following string...

--cbr -ms -q2 -b256 --lowpass 19.5 %IN %OUT

Which sets
Constant Bit Rate
Stereo mode (as opposed to Joint-Stereo)
Level 2 quality
256k bit rate
Lowpass filter that starts at 19.5khz
