[NEW USER] Syncing rating with an Insignia Pilot 8V24
« on: September 26, 2008, 06:32:05 pm »

Hi,

I am new to MC12. I am evaluating and have questions.

Currently all my audio collection is in FLAC format, all files are tagged. My device does not support FLAC thus I have to convert files to MP3 or OGG to be able to read them on the device. Consersion is done easily and tags are kept on the converted files.

If I am reading a song on the device and I change the rating, am I supposed to see the rate being synced next time I connect the device to my PC ? If so, it does not work here with latest MC12 (on Vista).

Do I need to put the device on MTP mode or MSC ? Are MP3 tags (such as rating) of my device synced in FLAC files tags ?

Regards

If it can help, here is the JRinfo of my device:

Code: [Select]
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<DIC Version="1.05">
<InfoKey/>
<Item>
<Field Name="Path">6 - Whiplash.mp3</Field>
<Field Name="MetaData">(2:12)(4:Name)(8:Whiplash)(7:Track #)(1:6)(6:Artist)(9:Metallica)(9:File Size)(7:5798016)(5:Album)(12:Kill 'Em All)(7:Bitrate)(3:185)(19:WMDM: Persistent ID)(23:J%3B%5C6 - Whiplash.mp3)(5:Genre)(4:Rock)(11:Date (year))(4:1983)(8:Duration)(20:249,7560000000000002)(10:Media Type)(5:Audio)(17:WMDM: Description)(28:While not as timeless as Rid)</Field>
<Field Name="HHKey">6 - Whiplash.mp35798016</Field>
</Item>
</DIC>

Can someone explain what each metadata field means ? Where is the rating information here ? Where is the play count info ?

Thank you

Insignia Pilot uses a propriety database tag info locked into the Rhapsody SW for "on player" rating toggle.
A firmware could retify this, just don't hold your breath.
