a small request
« on: October 24, 2008, 06:50:54 pm »

 ;D ;D
i like to see what songs i have - so i have set up newly purchased mc13 to do so. With mc12 the year of the album displayed next to album/ artist - with mc13 is way over on right hand side - is that deliberate or fixable back to how it was ?

You can drag columns around with a mouse.  Is that what you mean?

If you have a place on the Internet to put one, you can show it here by placing it between image tags.  They look like this:

[ img ] Image link goes here [ /img ]

but you will need to remove the spaces in the tags.

phalanthus, are you talking about the group header?

If you are, that's not something we have any control over.

You can set this by "View > Customize View" and then change the
setting for "Group By".

If you want full control, you can set up a "user defined field" and then
use it for grouping / sorting. Open "Tools > Options > Library & Folders"
and then "Manage Library Fields".

For example, I made a field called "Header_ArtistAlbums" with the
calculated data expression "[Artist] * [Date] * [Album]".

I then selected this field under "View > Customize View" for "Group By".
This gives me
B-52's * 1979 * The B-52's
B-52's * 1980 * Wild Planet
B-52's * 1982 * Mesopotamia
B-52's * 1983 * Whammy!
as group headers for my "Artist Album" view

As another example, I made a field called "Header_Classic" with the
calculated data expression "[Composer] * [Album]", this will give me
Brahms, Johannes * Symphonie Nr. 1
Brahms, Johannes * Symphonie Nr. 2
etc for my "Classic" view

"Sort Inside Groups By" is set to "Default".

Hope this makes sense...

It does.
I use this approach to include all photos in my 'new photos' view schemes, and all audio in my new audio view schemes.

The old stuff is grouped all together down at the bottom, while the new stuff gets grouped by filename at the top of the list.
Why would I do this?
It means that when tagging the new stuff, all existing tags are available in the panes, so I don't have to keep hitting "New tag" in order to get at a tag that's, erm... not new ;)
