I need some advice/ideas for some conversions I'd like to do. I run MC from my laptop with my second laptop HD for my library. Additionally, because I use a 160Gb IPod I prefer to keep my files in lossless for SQ. For obvious file size reasons, my library grows quite large. What I'd like to do is convert all of my m4a files with ratings of 1 or 2 to mp3. Then keep the mp3s on my laptop and archive the original m4a files to an external HD. I've got a smartlist for the files I want to convert but I need a way to easily have a list of the files that were created via conversion. Right now I've got MC set to not import the converted files. Then I import and tag all of the new files with a custom field of Source=>From m4a archive. I then move the original m4a files to my external HD and delete them from the MC library. Does anyone have an idea for an easier way to accomplish this?
