I've purchased a handful of albums from Internet music stores that offer 24bit/96KHz (some are 24bit/88.2KHz) tracks. Some of them are 2 channel, but most of mine are surround 5.1. All of these 24bit files have been encoded with WMA lossless.
You can find some of them at:
http://www.2l.musiconline.no/shop/default.asphttp://itrax.com/http://www.hdtracks.com/index.php?file=9624albumshttp://www.highdeftapetransfers.com/storefront.phphttp://www.linnrecords.com/index.aspxhttp://www.musicgiants.com/musicgiants/index.htmlAll of these tracks play fine with MC 12 and my hardware. However, the metadata is incomplete. I don't know if this is a limitation with WMA, but... These files/tracks don't show anything for 'Bit Depth' or 'Sample Rate' (actually, none of my 16bit files have anything listed for bit depth either). I'd like to make a smartlist of the 24bit audio in my library. I can make a smartlist of the surround tracks because the channels tag is correct.
I also wanted to create an alternative play mode display with:
[Remaining Time] // [Total Time] - [Bit Depth] bit // [Sample Rate] kHz - [Channels] ch - [PN Position] of [PN Tracks]
Since the Bit Depth and Sample Rate tags don't work for high res 24 bit audio, those fields don't work. The "channels" tag does show 2 or 6 channels for these tracks, but nothing is shown in the alternative play mode display. You end up with something like:
-1:43 / 2:41 - bit / 88.2 kHz - ch - 2 of 12
It's interesting that it found 88.2 kHz even though the 'Sample Rate' tag is empty. Same thing happens with 24bit/96KHz/5.1channel tracks.
