ipod -> Media Center will not recognize
« on: December 25, 2008, 09:47:45 pm »

Hi, MC 12.0.534 has stopped recognizing all ipod devices.  This used to work fine (i.e. plugin device via USB, sync handheld, drag-n-drop files to it, transfer, etc.).  I cannot put my finger on what changed specifically that caused this.  The computer itself recognizes when the devices are plugged in.  They show up in Windows Explorer.  Other software programs seem to recognize them like iTunes.

These devices are not ipod touch/phone.  They are not 4th gen. ipod nano.  There is one ipod video, and one ipod nano, and MC does not seem to recognize either of them after I plug them in.

I have tried uninstalling MC, and re-installing 12.0.534.  That did not fix the problem.  I tried installing iTunes (it was not installed).  That did not fix the problem.  I removed iTunes.  That did not fix the problem.  Reboot, etc...Windows Update...still no luck.

Tools -> Options -> Handheld -> Redetect All Devices does not work either.  When I do this, it just seems to open up the MC Start Page in the main pane, but does not recognize the device(s).

If I launch MC..it sees the extra drive if I go to Drives & Devices -> My Computer.  It just won't recognize it as a device I can synch / drag & drop to.  Is there something else that can be done here?

Thank you in advance.
