Acquire Video from Camera
« on: January 01, 2009, 03:18:37 pm »

Camera is Kodak Easy Share CD93

MC identifies it as "C913 Digital Camera"

Click the acquire button and it grabs the photos from the DCIM folder on the SD card in the camera just fine.
However, this camera also does videos.
They are .mov format and stored on the SD card in the camera.
I noticed the "types to acquire" setting in the camera options did not include .mov, so I added it to the ; delimited list.

The path as shown in windows explorer is:
Computer\C913 Digital Camera\Removable storage\DCIM\100KC913\100_0083.mov, so basically the difference is it's just one folder deeper than the .jpg files were.
The folder doesn't seem to matter though... I moved the .mov files up one level into the DCIM folder and MC still didn't acquire them.

Still no go.

The depth of the folder wouldn't matter, but I believe the Kodak cameras use a different method called WIA for transfer in Windows.  MC supports it, but the standard may have limits.

You're saying that it doesn't show up as a drive in Explorer.  Is that correct?

It shows up in 'my computer' in vista, but not as a drive letter, it's under the portable devices section shown as C913 Digital Camera, Type: Digital Camera.  If I open it, I then see 2 items: Fixed Storage & Removable Storage.  It's set to only use the removable storage for photos and video.

It doesn't show up in the tree of MC at all, even under drives and devices.
It does show up if you click on camera in the action window.

Here's a log with only Handheld and Reader checked.  Let me know if you need more.
If you search on C913 you'll see a couple of entries.
This is just turning on the camera attached to USB and it being recognized.  I'll log an acquire later if you need it.

I think that's WIA and we can't do anything about it.  Please try a google search.

Not a biggie, it works fine for the photos.
I'll just get the videos via the Import Folder function and point it to that folder on the SD card.
