MC Steals File Association for .RAW
« on: January 02, 2009, 02:33:47 pm »

Each time I install/update MC, I choose custom install and I am sure to deselect all of the image file types when MC asks for associations. But, every time I find that afterwards MC is now associated with the .raw filetype. When I check in MC's options - filetypes, it shows that MC is not associated. But, when I check in Windows Folder Options, it shows MC associated with .raw.

My picture viewing program checks filetypes every time it starts and it always complains about .raw after I install or upgrade MC.

MC 13.0.101 on XP Pro SP3

Double-check your settings in MC, since .RAW is also listed under wave audio.

Yes, that was it. I thought raw was only a graphics format.

So, is there a way to have MC associated with all music types without it taking one of my graphics filetypes? Are the 2 raws the same filetype, both for music and graphics?

.RAW can be an unheadered WAV audio file OR a RAW image from some brand cameras.

There's not much we can do to allow one but not the other since Windows only keys off of the extension.
