4100+ temp files??
« on: February 13, 2009, 02:41:56 pm »

The folder C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\J River\Generic\Temp conatins over 4100 image files with names such as "FLAC Image - 420 (7)". These are apparrently album cover art images which at one time were applied to flac files.

My question is why are they still there?
Will MC eventually delete them?
If I delete them will I lose my art on those albums?
Is their existence an indication of a problem applying the covers to the file tags?

My options are set to save the cover art files in the folder with files (Artist - Album.jpg) as well as in the file's tags.

The folder C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\J River\Generic\Temp

Nothing should be using that as the temporary folder (using Generic means something failed to load product information).  I wonder if there was a bug with a certain FLAC plugin?

It is safe to delete the files.

The temporary folder should be:
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\J River\Media Center 13\Temp

And it should be deleted on shutdown.

Let us know if any files come back after a delete.

Thanks.

Thanks Matt

there's a chance that was a 'self-inflicted wound'

Since MC does not back up all aspects of your setup I use a 3rd party backup program to save an image of my MC library as well as the program installation folder. I might have grabbed a backup while that folder was there and before MC had a chance to delete it, thus perpetuating it's existence.

I've deleted it now (on all backups as well) and will let you know if it reapears.
