Send to Playlist limitation?!
« on: February 22, 2009, 09:30:10 am »

A longer time ago I reported this with MC12 and it got fixed, but only partially. The list of playlists is shown completely in AW since the bugfix in MC12 (and so there is no real need for me to use the right click menu), but it's still not complete for the "send to" menu:

I think it is connected to the number of playlists. Looks as MC is able to handle "only" round about 600 Playlists within the rightclick menu. As it looks in the picture above, after a number of playlists MC cuts of the list. The borderline is somewhere in the group "Alben". The list of playlists isn't complete in there.

Would it be possible for you to send a library backup to matt at jriver dot com so I have something to reproduce it with?

Thanks!

So you don't have the time to create 600 Playlists just for fun 8)
You've got a mail. Thanks for taking the time to take a look at this!

Thanks for the backup.  I think the cap was unneeded and there for a legacy reason.

In build 149 and later (hopefully coming later this week):
Changed: The Send To > Playlist menu no longer caps at showing only the first 500 playlists.

Also, your library contains several really old files with (1).jmd, (2).jmd, etc. names.  I haven't seen that before so I'm reluctant to make the program automatically clean them up.  You might erase the old files by hand after making a backup.  These include: mediafiles (1).jmd, mediafiles (2).jmd, playlistx (1).jmd, playlistx (2).jmd, etc.

If other people have big, old *(1).jmd, *(2).jmd files in their library, let us know.  The curplaylist.jmd files will, by design, create additional numbered entries if you use zones.

Thanks.

I'm not sure, because, as you said, the files are very old, but maybe they are not created by MC?! I'm using this library since MJ8 I think, so maybe I created this files accidently or intentionally by myselfe when working on my library files and forgot about them. I at least used two filemanagers which rename files to "old name (#).ext" when they see any duplicates during a copy process (dosn't also winexplorer do the same?).

So, there may be no reason for MC to work on this files automaticly ;)
