Trouble Syncing with Apple iPod Nano 3rd Gen

I'm trying to sync my iPod but for some reason MC will not change the file extension after converting from flac to mp3. So on my iPod I have mp3 files with the flac extension on it. Everything works ok until I try and play music on my iPod, nothing happens.

This is how a music file looks like on iPod...
J:/iPod_Control/Music/F06/HCHT.flac

I'm using Media Center 13.0.152
Under Options I have it set to convert unsupported files.
When I try to play the file in WMP I get an error. When I change the extension to mp3 the file plays fine in WMP.
I'm guessing it's a bug ?
