Handheld Device reappears after remove & ignore
« on: June 29, 2009, 06:40:40 pm »

I have been trying to get  MC 14 to ignore a USB thumb drive from the Drives and Devices area. I select the Remove & Ignore command (both by right-click and from the options menu) and the device is removed.

Whenver I restart MC or attach another device such as the iPod, the item reappears. The drive is dedicated for Windows Readyboost. The drive is hidden from Windows Explorer using the regedit NoDrives hack (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoDrives).

I am using the latest builds of MC14 on a Windows 7 x64 build.

Any thoughts whether this is a bug or on how to permanently stop the device from being redetected?

I experienced similar in trying to get rid of an folder configured as a handheld device back in version 13.
I ended up having to do a registry edit to get rid of it.
I wasn't sure at the time if it was a bug or registry permissions issue.
