Some unique ID as filename on portable device
« on: July 14, 2009, 05:03:41 pm »

Hi!

Is it possible to have files on mobile device renamed to some unique id (automatically generated) or something other than tag values? I've got PMP which doesn't like national (ie. accented, unicode etc. )  characters in playlists.

Currently you would have to rename the files on your hard disk.  That would be easy with MC, but probably not something you want to do.

If it would help a popular device or devices, we could consider making this an option for any handheld.

I have this problem with Archos 404. I think it can occur with other devices with embedded linux. The source of the problem is encoding file names on device file system and m3u playlist.
