RS-232 Plugin?
« on: July 23, 2009, 09:55:07 pm »

I've finally picked my whole-house audio system, so now it's time to figure out how to browse my MC library from the Nuvo Essentia E6G's 4-line OLED keypads.

I know someone created a plug-in for the Russound CAV system, so it should be possible.

The Nuvo has an RS-232 interface and what looks like a fairly straight-forward protocol.  Unfortunately, it looks like I still need to buy a NuVoNet adapter to turn my PC into a source that can be displayed on the Nuvo keypads :(

So, does anyone here have any experience writing an MC plug-in to talk to any kind of controller via RS-232.  I'd appreciate any pointers/source code to start from.  It's been a long time since I've done any real programming beyond hacking together a Perl or CSH script.  I'm not even sure what language would be the best choice?

Hi, I am looking into buying a NuVo Multiroom amp with the same keypads.  Did you manage to get them communicating to MC?
