from ac3 to wav
« on: October 21, 2009, 05:55:00 pm »

im trying to convert an ac3 file to ape, and then import it (yeah, a live concert thing, but they left to much out on the cd).
converted it to wav and then to ape, made a cue file, but i did not get it to work really...
my brain is hurting now, and i want to do it my own way, that is just splitting the wav to seperated ape files, because that is something i understand.

now the question is, is there any nice (and since i hope its a one time action), free, software to convert the ac3 (stereo) file to wav or something like that. i found and used a programm from 2001, but had not test it yet (with my ears and stuff)... mc cant do it? what else?
what else i have to look to..

thanks

This is in the wiki:

thanks jim, guess that explains why the ac3 file got imported as data on my first tries.  :)
will play around with that also..
but the goal is to have some proper and nice ape files, 16 bit, 41 Hz.. no directx stuff for my audio as long as i can prevent it.  :P

You're welcome.  You just need a DirectX filter to read it.  Then you can convert to anything.

Time for bed.  The Tomten will be watching over you.

eac3to input.ac3 output.wav (command line; GUI also on the given link)

If you work at some point with 5.1 files then eac3to input.ac3 output.flac (preserving multichannel).
