Trouble with FLVs
« on: November 14, 2009, 11:14:48 am »

MC will play some flv files but, not all of them. The ones that do not play in MC play fine in VLC PLayer. These are videos downloaded from Youtube. MC will throw up a dialog box saying:

Quote
MC encountered errors while trying to play the last several files. Please make sure that path in your media library points to the right location.
Error details:
DirectShow: Failed to play flv video. Please EXIT Media Center and restart it, then try playing the video again.

Also, afterwards, Windows throws up the dialog stating that something might not have installed correctly and do I want to reinstall. I have tried starting MC with admin privileges but that didn't make a difference.

I also get this error message trying to play some YouTube videos. Others work fine. The error is preceeded by a brief message saying "Downloading and installing needed components. Please wait...". They all played fine on my XP installation, now I've migrated to Win7. Which splitter/decoder should I select for the FLV file type to make it work? Or is there another solution?
