iPod causing Runtime error in mc14

I'm running 14.0.101 and it now consistently crashes when my iPod is attached.  The iPod is a 5th generation 30gig video iPod.  I have successfully synched this ipod in the past using MC14, but now it always crashes with a runtime error.

The error I receive is in a window titled "Microsoft Visual c++ runtime library" and the error it returns is "Runtime error!  This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way"

I'm running windows 7 on an hp laptop.  I have already unistalled and reinstalled MC14, with no improvement.
