Images are very dark in display view [solved]

... what gives?

I just installed latest build of mc15 on a "new" laptop. It's XP, but MC was never installed on it.  

All thumbs ok in standard view and "zoomed in" thumbs.

Accessing the library as a client.

Try updating your video drivers.  Image playback uses Direct3D.

You might also try Media Center 16.
