MJ8 - Copy Listening To... - New Idea
« on: June 28, 2002, 06:20:47 pm »

I know...this belongs in/on the Wish List, but I'm putting it here for feedback anyways:

How about a Toolbar button for the 'Copy Listening To' feature so you easily (single-click) get that 'Listen to...' text put in the clipboard?  That way, you could have anything displayed (ie, not have to track down the Playing Now node) and still get the text put in the clipboard.

Thoughts?

This a good idea. One less hoop to jump through. I can think of a few more....

Have you put this on the list?

Guys,

Just to let you know the next version of AV implements two global keyboards hooks.

So from any application you can do ALT|PLS|CTRL|PLS|F11/F12 and it will copy to the clipboard a user definable string based on the currently playing track (similar to the way captions are created).

So for example you could use F12 to paste in an IRC formatted playing information (complete with escape sequences to make it look pretty) and F11 for just plain text.

RhinoBanga,

????

You have to remember, some of us are lowly carpenters, not bored programmers looking for something to do.

LOL ... not exactly bored ... I have always wanted this functionality so I put it in and I combined it with my multimedia keyboard hook so I don't have to have a separate app running in the background ... just MJ.

Self-drilling rotational fastening device, impact driven fastening device, molecular catalyst bonding agent.

Gotcha, thanks.

BTW - Is the latest AV available? A few days ago you mentioned to wait until you had something fixed. Been somewhat busy, so I have not checked to see what the progress is.

If you give it about an hour I'll put up this version with the keyboard hooks and you can test it :D

The latest version of AV with the keyboard hooks can be found at:

http://www.zippy.eclipse.co.uk/mjav/av2.exe

You will have to enable the hooks then restart MJ.

To enable or modify the hooks go to tools/options within AV.
There you can set the values for ALT|PLS|CTRL|PLS|F11 and ALT|PLS|CTRL|PLS|F12.

Don't forget that these only copy to the clipboard ... you will have to do a CTRL|PLS|V or SHIFT|PLS|INSERT to get the clipboard into your app.

Also you must have something playing in AV or else nothing will get copied to the clipboard.
