How do I boost the vocals in an MP3?
« on: March 31, 2010, 06:36:30 pm »

I bought some tracks off of Puretracks for my daughter, and she tells me that the vocals are being overwhelmed by the accompanying music (the tracks sound fine to my ears, but since I don't know the music she likes, I can't really say).

The tracks are all 320 kbps 2-channel MP3 files.  Is there a way to leave the music at the same volume, but boost the vocals?  On my TV upstairs, when I had the same type of problem with DVDs, I boosted the front channel, which fixed the problem for 5.1 films.  Since these are only 2 channel, am not sure how to accomplish the same thing.  These are all pop tunes, like Owl City.  I tried playing around with the DSP equalizer, but since I don't know what I am doing was more or less just randomly moving bars up and down.

Thanks,
DD.
