Amazon usage outside of the USA [HELP NEEDED]
« on: June 29, 2010, 02:32:09 pm »

We want to better support the international Amazon store-fronts.  Currently we direct all traffic to amazon.com instead of amazon.de, amazon.co.uk, etc.

We have a few questions for our our international users:

1) Does Amazon automatically redirect a request to amazon.com to your appropriate portal?
2) What is your Amazon portal URL (i.e. amazon.co.uk) and what country are you in?

Thanks for any help.

1. No- Gives me a banner suggesting I should try .co.uk
2. amazon.co.uk - UK  ;D

Two ways I can think of to do this off the top of my head-
1. Geolocate from the users IP (IIRC what Amazon itself does with the banner)
2. A options selection as to which country the user is in.

there is no amazon.com.au, for what it is worth.
