MJ plying nothing - Help
« on: June 19, 2002, 07:55:44 pm »

I re-installed MJ 8 and it just does not play any file (.ape, .wav or MP3). The playing window displays "Buffering". Sometime it has "Buffering 92%". Is there some setting that needs to be checked. I am running

XP
HP Brio 233 MHz
60GB HD
128 MB RAM

Very few programs installed on it.

No offense, but 128 megs is not much memory to be running Windows XP, esp. if you want to record CD's.  256 megs is about the minimum you should have installed.  RAM is fairly cheap -- you might look at www.tigerdirect.com, or www.memory4less.com
You may want to try adjusting the virtual memory used on the hard drive.  Open the Help & Support Center and type 'virtual memory' in the Search to read about making this bigger.  I'm not sure if more VM will help or not.
You have a 233 Mhz CPU ?  I think that may be a large part of the buffering; between running Win XP and trying to play songs.  A 500 Mhz or faster CPU would probably help a lot.  I wish you well.

Is your volume muted?  Right click on the volume slider.

Make sure you have 8.0.300 installed.

Then, play around with the Playback settings in Options. (switch between WaveOut and DirectSound, etc.)

Let us know what you find out.

Thanks.
