Installing HP remote control
« on: October 16, 2010, 04:28:53 am »

I received your HP remote control and am trying to install it.
When I click on "Next>" in "Remote Control Setup" I get the following message:
You don't appear to have a Media Center receiver connected to your computer. Please connect it and try again.
How can I correct this problem?

The "Devices and Options" window shows the following devices:
Microsoft MCE (Active)
Remote, keyboard, gamepad...
IRMAN
USB-UUIRT
When I try to activate IRMAN or USB-UUIRT its state is "failed to start".
Which device is the hp remote control?

I use Media Center version 15.0.95
The Windows 7 device manager shows the "eHome-Infrarotempfänger (USBCIR)" as fully working device.
In Media Center I can use some of the remote control keys.

It sounds like the service "Media Center 15 Service" is not running for some reason.  In Windows task manager on the "Services" tab see what it's status is.  If it's not running, try right-clicking and selecting "start service".
