Arcam RDAC WASAPI Set up tips. (edited)
« on: October 24, 2010, 03:00:39 pm »

So I am wondering if anyone else is playing with an Arcam RDAC with MC15?

The sound of the RDAC is seeming to improve rapidly after the first month or so.

I am using WASAPI Event Style, Exclusive access

Buffering set to 100. Since Event Style WASAPI the errors have gone with the higher settings. (Always was OK on Foobar)

No Resampling
2 Channels
No Mixing
24 Bit

Prebuffering: 20 Seconds
Play Silence: 1 Second

This seems to work fine for me. If you have an RDAC and are having problems it may be the buffering in the output mode settings. It foxed me for a bit.

Please post any other configurations that work to see if there are any alternatives.

For now I am back to the music.

Hello, is WASAPI - Event Style available in mediaplayer 14 at all ? I can't find the setting anywhere...
Anyway, I got my rDAC yesterday, must say things improved after 5 hours or so hours of listening, but you say one month, ok will wait and see !

thanks

Ok I found it, WASAPI isn't a Jukebox thing but something in windows 7, but not available when running XP

WASAPI came in with Vista - but you probably need MC15 (or more) to get the best out of it.

Recommend upgrading to Win 7 or using ASIO 4 ALL if thats not on

Good luck

The rDac does benefit from some mains conditioning probably because the wallwart power supply is not up to much. Noticed a big improvement from a mains conditioner. Good value upgrade too. (mine was £40 or about 50 euros). Highly recommended.

Hi,

I have an rDAC, and also found that I needed to use WASAPI (Event Style) as Kernel Streaming seemed to produce a lot of clicks and dropouts for me. Works very well with WASAPI though.

I emailed arcam about an aftermarket power supply and they said it voids ur warranty on the rDAC if you use one of those
