apply volume leveling when converting for handheld

Is it possible to apply volume leveling when converting music files to MP3s for your handheld device.  If not, can I suggest that it be implemented? --  that is, it is implemented for burning CDs (via 'apply DSP settings') and it seems like I'm constantly adjusting the volume on my iPod ..

The information is in the tags. What is needed is support for volume leveling in Music Player apps on Android. Bug the developers of those apps and hopefully one will implement it.

If you do find one, let me know. I have been scared out of my witts more than once while driving the volume suddenly jumps to 10... :)

Not necessarily ... i.e., MC provided for volume leveling (via DSP settings) when tracks are burned to to an audio CD.  Conceptually, it's easy to ask for whenever tracks are re-encoded ... but I have no idea how difficult it is for JR to implement.  But many of us have been asking for it for some time and for the very reasons you mention.  Constantly fooling with the device is dangerous while driving (... or walking, ftm)
