Can't view Pictures with MC15 / Windows 7
« on: December 13, 2010, 12:27:43 am »

This is really strange...  I tried MC15 the other day and really liked the DLNA feature.  I upgraded from MC 14.0.165 which worked fine on my Dell E6400 Win 7 laptop except for 3D features such as theater view and 3d visualizations.  (Those features never worked since MC14.0.96.)  I gave up and dusted off the old Dell D610 XP laptop and put it in as my htpc.  I really got into the DLNA feature between the two laptops then came the problem.  I finally tried viewing pictures, it seems that the E6400 Win 7 box will not play pictures, the thumbnails are fine and I can even push them via DLNA to the D610 over the network just fine.  With MC15 pictures will not display in Playing Now or in detached window on the E6400.  During play the picture change according to the player bar, I can pause, ff, stop and etc. just no picture.  During music play the album views and visualizations are fine (except 3d) and videos play fine.  I can start MC 14 and everything is fine.  I uninstalled MC 14 and MC 15 (15.0.165) reinstalled 15.0.150, 15.0.163, removed the vid adapter (NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M) driver and ran on win 7 default driver all with the same results.  Does anyone have any ideas?  Help please.

Problem solved.  Reloaded Win 7.  Not sure what specifically was the fix was but an upgrade install over win 7 fixed it.

I have the same problem. The play slideshow function puts up a black screen. The controls show the images, all jpg's, are incrementing.
The OS is Windows 7.
The PC is a Dell P4 at 3.00 Ghz with 1GB RAM.
The preview image function works fine.
The slideshow function of WindowsExplorer works ok too.
In Win 7's control panel the display is set to
Generic Non-PP Monitor on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter
The resolution is 1024x768
The play function for audio works fine.
Running MC 15.0.172, the problem was the same with .171

Any debug help would be appreciated.

Image playback uses hardware acceleration (the same as Theater View).  Both require a video card capable of acceleration, which is present on any modern GPU.

If you're having trouble, try updating your video drivers.

Thanks Matt !
I suspect thats my problem. It's a Dell Optiplex GX270 with Intel Extreme 2 integrated graphics and the old PCI bus.
Tried the driver route without success. Probably time to put the old chassis out to pasture.

With a quick check on Newegg I didn't see any low cost graphics adapters that could do the Directx 11 for Win 7 and supports PCI, pre Express.
Open to suggestions.
