Suggestion/Request (Media Network Video Conversion)
« on: January 31, 2011, 09:30:43 am »

Would it be possible to set up a connection speed test and use the result to set the video conversion profile.
An actual bit rate for the conversions would nice too. instead of "MPEG4 low bandwidth stream" have it say "MPEG4 low bandwidth stream (xxkbps)"

I would love to see this work similar to netflix, test my speed, send me all I can handle, don't involve me :)

And, do this through-out during the playback so it won't necessarily be stuck to whatever was at the beginning :).

Also, for Gizmo, it would be great if the entire file does not have to finish with video transcoding - could it be done 'on-the-fly' as much as possible? Some of the newer machines are capable of real-time transcoding a 1080p HD stream to a lower bit-rate format.

Thanks,
Osho

To add to my suggestion a "do not" covert option should be available.
Any way of adding a section in the file tag that determines if the file
should be converted and at what rate. If I know I am going to be traveling
I can pre-convert some files, as far as that goes I already have several
videos that are in low bandwidth format.
