I like simple, cheap and resilient.
I would buy two 2 TB drives (one WD and one Seagate) plus two external USB/e-Sata enclosures (Vantec NextStar3 is the best in my opinion), plus some backup software (I like Super Flexible File Synchronizer). Total cost should be about $270.
Back everything up to each drive, store them in different locations, and don't leave them powered on. Now you have 3 copies of your data; on drives from different manufacturers in case one has a defect; you are covered from theft/fire because they are in different locations; you don't need to worry about a lightning strike because they are unplugged when not in use; you are not dependent on the internet or the survival of a company; and you've got spare capacity for another TB of data.
