I have MC15,173 setup to load an mc2xml created guide. It works fine if I do it manually but when I let MC15 do it automatically in the background (the check box is ticked) nothing happens. In TV next to the TV Options button it still says 'Program Guide last refreshed 03/02/2011 10:18'. Thats is the last manual refresh.

This has been working for me at home.

One note is that Library Server Clients don't do television work, since that's the server's job.  Could that explain what you're seeing?

Are there any config files / registry settings I can look at to see if the 'load automatically in the background' is checked. It was in the gui but who knows.

I don't think the logging system works for this part of MC.

It works for me too.

Here is what you ask for:
In "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 16\Properties" look for entries that start with "EPG - ", in particular "EPG - Load Recurring".

The guide in MC16 runs out after 2 weeks. Even thouigh it says it is auto refreshing everyday.
In MC next to the TV Options button it still says last refreshed 31/03/2011 14:14

Are the XMLTV options confusing things. I don't use that anymore?

You settings are almost the same as mine (except country code and zip code of course).  I can not see anything wrong there.  Since you use mc2xml option, and not XMLTV option, you can try deleting all entries of the form "EPG - XMLTV ...".  I do not see how it could matter though.

Do you see this file on your drive -

C:\Users\rossp\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 16\Settings\mc2xml\mc2xml.dat

and when you manually loaded EPG, did you check "Reset mc2xml settings file..." button (which would remove old version of this file and create a new one).

Is your mc2xml.exe file up to date?

Yes that file is there. I have reset mc2xml several times. I think mc2xml.exe is upto date (it is now - just downloaded it).
I will remove the registry entries and see how it goes.

I had this problem a long time ago and never found a real fix, it just started working again and hasn't stopped since (sorry I know that's not much help!).

Have you tried clearing out the EPG in MC, closing MC (and the server) and then restarting MC?  It should then detect an empty EPG an reload it in theory.... then leave it to see if it reloads the next day.
