replay/gain -MJ and clean install
« on: June 09, 2002, 01:58:57 am »

Will get my computer back in few hours, with the drive C clean,no OS on it

I have all my music on drive D
I did to all songs Replay/Gain.Do i have to start again the proces ?

Can i run Media Jukebox on drive D with Windows OS on drive C?

If the answer is yes:in this case if i do a clean install on drive C,do Media Jukebox will work?

My question has no link with the license,i have a 7 license
Just i would like to keep Media Jukebox with all the plugings, settings and art sleeves once for good. Not to have to start all again if i reformat

Have a nice sunday
Very hot here -42 degrees

Good morning.

I _think_ the setting is stored in the tag, but I'm not certain.  Someone else will remember.

Yes.  You can install it anywhere.  The music can also be on any drive.

Install MJ (full version) after installing the OS.

Just install over the top of the old install.  Don't un-install first.

Good luck.  Stay cool.

Hi Zevele

ReplayGain is stored in the file so no problem moving the library around (I just tried removing a file, updating the library, and reimporting and everything is fine). You can also install MJ where you prefer.

As for reinstalling drive C in the future and mantaining a working MJ, that's more difficult. When you reinstall from scratch the OS, the registry and all the info about installed programs etc is gone. Depending on the Windows version you use, there are ways around this, but I'm not sure it's worth the trouble: the main thing that you do not want to loose is the library. MJ can easily be re-installed

Thank you
I stay cool, but not cold.It is so hot here!

Next time i will try a new install on the top of the old

Claudio, you are right to save tags, art coverts is important
To have to download some plugings and set them is not such a deal
Even if to get back his MJ'as before' can be  cool
