Language error or mysterious error?
« on: March 03, 2011, 03:44:46 pm »

I am trying to rip (securely) a rather scratched CD on my laptop with a usb dvd drive. Just a few seconds after beginning to rip track 1, the rip progress status window says "Rip failed" and the song title seems to change to some Asian characters. (I am running an English version of MC15 and ripping an album with English titles.)

The title (?) then changes to some other Asian characters, the progress bar shows no action and the drive does nothing. Nothing else happens until I hit "Cancel".

When I try ripping the album without track 1, all seems to go well.

I have ripped this CD on another computer without any strange issues, just some unreliable data after re-read attempts that made me want to try on my laptop. And track 1 actually ripped securely with no re-tries.

So, any idea where the Asian characters come from, and what the problem might be?
