Library server and Rights management
« on: March 31, 2011, 05:45:53 am »

I've just installed Library server on my server, and have 2 clients connected. One editing workstation and one HTPC. I would also like to give access to a friend who lives in a room next door, but I don't want to see he's Number Play counters or anything. How do I do this? Do I have to make a shortcut with the /readonly command on his client? Is there any way that I can force him to do this every time? I don't want him to be able to mess with my library at all.

Have you thought any more about a simple group or user Access List function for the library server? To have basic read/write tags on different users or groups of users would solve problems like this once and for all. It don't have to be super granular. A Read/Write list for Audio, Video, Images, Data and Playlists would suffice for most people I think.
