license restore problem
« on: June 05, 2002, 05:10:31 am »

I read through the FAQ section after trying to install this program on my new (used) computer. I go to restore license, and procede to do that. The program gives me a "registration information retored!" prompt, but when I try to rip a CD, it still wants me to purchase. What am I doing wrong?

What version of the program?

If it is version 7.2, what is the name of the license?

Yes, v7.2

The name of the license is   MediaJukebox7.rrg

I have also had trouble installing the "Buybutton" patch. It tells me the destination folder is in use, even though the program is not running.

I am installing this on a box running Win NT. Could this be a problem?

Try rebooting and then immediately try the buybutton patch process. I'm pretty sure the buybutton patch will solve the license problem you're having.

Nope, just tried that.

It downloads & then I get a "Destination file is in use. Cannot continue." message. Then a "Failed to install package."

What's going on here? I love the program, had it for months, but now it's useless to me. I refuse to pay for it again.

why don't you uninstall and install MJ8?

since MJ7 rrg files will work with MJ8

To install that patch, make sure you have no Media Jukebox files open.  You can't run MJ and install the patch.

Here's what the patch install file does:

[Package]

Name=BuyButton 1.2
Action=UNZIPDIR
Version=1.0.1
Url=http://www.musicex.com/mediajukebox/mj_data/components/BuyButton12.zip

[Action]
File1=*.*
File1Action1=COPY_SYSDIR

It installs a couple of files in your windows system folder.  The files are:
buyb12.dll
buyb12ex.dll

If you're getting an error, it's probably because those files are in use.
